Hackers ransom letter to HBO chief
One of the most popular series Game Of Thrones is facing a real tough time as their scripts are being leaked online and the hackers didn’t stop there. The script of the fifth episode of Game Of Thrones that is trending nowadays and the episode was supposed to be released next week has been leaked on social media. And the hackers didn’t just stop there, they are back with a ransom note for HBO chief, reports WIRED. The hackers had earlier leaked the fourth episode of the show few days before the scheduled telecast date. The hackers have written in the ransom note, “HBO spends 12 million for market research and 7 million for GOT 7 advertisement. So consider us another budget for your advertisement“. The hackers also have unseen data of Game Of Thrones in addition to other HBO shows like Room104, Insecure season 2 and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
“Our demand is clear and non-negotiable. We want XXXX to stop leaking your data. Leakage will be your worst nightmare“. The letter later read “It’s a game for us. Money isn’t our main purpose. We don’t want to endanger HBO’s situation nor cause it to lose its reputation. We want to be a tiny part of your huge income“. Reports WIRED.
The hackers reportedly said to have documents like balance sheets, employment agreements, and marketing strategies PDFs with “HBO is Falling” carved on it. And the letter was signed off with the picture of the Night King (Game Of Thrones). They have also shared a sample of stolen data with HBO chief Richard Plepler.
About the leak, HBO spokesperson Jeff Cusson told WIRED that they are expecting more data to be leaked and also said that a “forensic review is ongoing”.
